May the 4th – Louisiana is organized by M4Louisiana, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) that blends Star Wars fandom with Louisiana culture to raise funds for local school music and arts programs. Now in its fifth year, our event has grown from a small parking lot gathering into a dynamic celebration of music, community, and creativity—all while empowering students to thrive in their artistic journeys and become a force for good in the world.

We are M4Louisiana—a dedicated group of Star Wars fans, local business owners, and community leaders who came together to create the May the Fourth Festival. What began as a small event has evolved into a full-day festival drawing visitors from across the region. Inspired by the playful pun “May the 4th be with you,” we host our celebration on or around the first Saturday of May each year, perfectly capturing that spirit of fun and community.

We strive to create a positive, inclusive environment that encourages people of all ages to pursue their passions—Star Wars-themed or otherwise. We believe that passion inspires positivity, and positivity can change the world for the better. Join us as we gather, celebrate, and encourage one another to be brave enough to share our passions.

• Celebrate Local Culture: Highlighting the unique flavors and talents of Houma and the wider Louisiana area—from Cajun cuisine to local crafts.
• Foster Creativity: Encouraging creative expression for all ages with The Empire Cooks Back, costume contests, the Kessel Run 5K, and the Intergalactic Marketplace.
• Give Back: Proceeds from the festival support local school arts programs by funding instruments, uniforms, and performance opportunities for student musicians.

Houma is a city steeped in history and southern charm, located just an hour southwest of New Orleans. Known for its lively Mardi Gras celebrations and rich cultural traditions, Houma provides the perfect setting for a Star Wars-themed event that feels distinctly local. Visitors can enjoy a day filled with music, food, and fandom in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
